Does that Really work?

Does anyone recognize this image? Does anyone actually have one of these in their homes?

I do. We keep one in our bedroom just in case. In case the other phones are lost, or the battery runs out unexpectedly.

Apparently, we never use it. The other day Wendell pulled it over to the computer desk while I was on an important phone call and was waiting on hold forever. He was afraid the phone would go dead.

It has been sitting by the computer for a few days now, and our kids are incredulous. Like it is some kind of technological dinosaur. The funniest thing is that they weren't surprised to see it. They only got surprised when I actually answered it. "What! That thing really works?" You would think it was a rotary phone or something.

The funniest thing was the look on Rachael's face. She was so amazed. She started slamming it on it's cradle and said, "It's like in those old movies! Where they get mad and slam the phone down. Then they do it the wrong way and have to pick it up and put it down again.!" Then she took it into the other room and said,"Or when they stretch the cord as far as it will go to get some privacy. It is totally, like, the 80's Mom!"

DO I feel old now? Like, yes;)

he he he! I used one just like that at the church the other day. I couldn't beleive how big it felt. We have a just in case corded phone plugged in in the garage and rarely use it. I love technology! What you should do to really freak her out is get one of the origional cell phones. I think my in laws have one in the attic. I should go and dig it out and relive the good old days.

We had 2 phones growing up, one upstairs in the kitchen and one down in the family room. I think by the time my 4 older siblings got done with it it could stretch half way down the street.

We also had one with a REALLY, REALLY long cord! I remember the rotary dialing, too. Boy, am I older than you?

ha! well... that makes ME old, too! :)
you know whats funny is...i used to be a pacer- you know where you get on the phone (with a cord) and you go back and forth for the entire conversation. and now that i am wireless... i STILL have to be moving moving moving. perhaps it was better when i had a leash?

thats great that you have one for emergencies... i often wonder if Jeff and I should worry about getting a land line- just for that :)

I have one in my room too. It is so inconvenient. You can't do anything while you are on it. Mine has a very short cord. I Remember my cord growing up getting all twisted up and really bugging me. I love the pictures by the way. I need to come over and hold that baby.

I need one of those phones...Our portable phones were lost for days and I could only use the cell phone. Plus if electricity ever goes out the portable phone don't work.

That IS very funny. A phone just like in the olden days. I should have one of those b/c there ARE times when both phones are missing and/or dead and the cell coverage in my house is not great. Brad didn't give me your blog address, but now that I have it from your comment, I just may blog stalk now and then if you don't mind. :D
