Another Name Post

I am still at a loss as to what to name this baby. I need some advice.

I don't want a name that is super popular. I don't want my child to have to use her last initial her whole life. I am still a little miffed that Brenley is as common as it is. When I named her, I couldn't find it in any of the name books.

Anyhow- the name I like best is off limits to me. And Wendell didn't like it anyway for a girl. He won't let me use any of those cute names that may have ever belonged to a boy. ALL of them, and anything that ends in "son".

I have to admit I feel severely limited by this! I am wondering how he ever agreed to Kindyl. Oh yeah, he knew a girl Kendall growing up, and never knew a boy by the name.

A lot of names that I like are also too similar to Brenley. We can't really use another "ley" name at all. Shoot!

I have always felt a litttle limited by our last name as well. Obviously all "Mc" names are out. And Macnab is so Scottish that you can't really use any exotic sounding names with it. Although.. I was watching reruns the other day,(Angel) and noticed one of the actor's name was "Mercedes Mcnab". Even though it is obviously French, it seemed to work! I may be biased because I am reading "The Count of Monte Cristo" right now. (Kindyl narrowly escaped being named "Scarlet". You have to watch what you read while pregnant;)

So here is a really really small list of names I am still contemplating:

Camdyn (LOVE Cam as a nick name)
Brecklyn (Love Brekyn, but know too many)
Cambry (too similar to Brenley?)

Um...that is it. Way too small, I know! So if you have any ideas, I am open. You have an idea what kind of narrow criteria I am working with.

Thanks for the help!

Jaelynn, Draelynn, Draea for short pronounced like draya. Mirynn, but you can't do Mirynn Mcnab. Sorry, that's all I got.

I like Camdyn. Camden Town is one of my favorite neighborhoods in London.

I like Camdyn, too. We have a girl here named Shombree, and I like that. It's very unusual. Most of our names come from books and rock stars! I'm personally not that imaginative!

Love Camdyn. See, this is why I don't have girls, boys are so easy to name. Sorry!

My older sister let her boys each put a vote on her top three names and that's how they chose Draven finally.

I did not know be but I am married to Jimmy and I look at your blog through Lauri. I hope you do not mind. We are having our 5th baby and names are a problem too. We are having a boy and I feel that girl names are so much easier. Camdyn is so cute but here is list that I had if we were having a girl. Finley, Marlie (it does sound nice with your last name), Addison, Lynlee(combo of my mother's middle name and Ginger's middle name.) I do not think that having two "ley" names in the family is bad. Go with your heart and it will be great. Also if you wish you can look at our blog northwestbunch.blogspot.com. Hope all goes well with the name choice. Janeal

How about Cambria instead of Cambry? I will keep my eyes open for names.

I know exactly what you mean. Every name I have come up with my better half veto's it. I think this baby is going to be called baby brother. funny enough if it had been a girl it had a name! I like Camdyn also. I also liked Ainsly and Delaney from your old post. Sisters in my YW have that name. The CUTEST girls!! Good Luck!!

Since you already vetoed Rhododendron , "Rhodi", and Peaches, you are on your own. Although I do also like Cambria better than Cambry. Too much like the car and I love the nick name Cam.

yCamdyn is cute, have never heard that. Don't be so worried about the "ley" part of a name if you find something you love. This is coming from the woman with a Kiara, Kaylee, Cade =) Get 2 or 3 and wait till you see that little girl. Remember that you don't have to have a name by the time you leave the hospital. Some lady on the news had an 18 month old they called baby girl because they still hadn't named her!

Thanks for the reply. I did not remember that story until you retold it. So yes we have met so long ago!!
Names are so hard especially when we have such a large family and we have to compete for names. If I think of any others I will send your way. Oh my email is janealp@comcast.net if you want to add to your list. Have a great night!!!

I can't think of a thing. Maybe that's why I finally stopped having kids!

I love how you give me crap & you don't have a name yet either! But, I guess you have a little more time than me to figure it out! Camdyn is cute, but it's my nephew's name, so I'm a little biased.

I love the name Brooklyn, we contemplated it for a boys name as well (thanks to Victoria & David Beckham). What about Reese?
