Spring Has Sprung!

And you all know what that means, right? It means I better get crackin' on my front yard if I want to get it done before it gets too darn H-O-T! Yes, the weather is lovely, and it was nice to get some color yesterday in my very own backyard, but before long it will be the unbearable 6 months we like to call Summer here in the desert.

I don't really like the word hate and I try not to use it, but if I did I would definately use it for my front yard. There are a few projects I have wanted to get done for the past few years. But, as you all know, projects that you do yourself that take place outdoors have to be done in the cool weather. That is a very short time frame around here.

We put up the retaining wall around the palms replacing the riverrock two weeks ago, and today I really wanted that river rock (or should I say river boulders) gone. One step closer to a normal front yard. The people who lived here before us had some VERY strange ideas. We repainted the lovely purple trim a few years ago and now it is time for the "unique" front landscaping to go as well.

Part of the reason we like to do these little projects ourselves is the opportunity for the kids to do a little manual labor. That doesn't happen for our kids very often, and it always puts a huge smile on my face to see the whole darn family working outside. There is some serious charecter building going on here. I love it.
